Three new priests for Northeast Province

Rev. Fr Ajith Philip CSC was ordained a priest on the 26th of November, 2016 by Bishop George Madathikandathil, Bishop of Kothamangalam at St. George Church, Kallanickal. There were about 40 priests and over hundred religious present. Representative of Holy Cross confreres from the Province of Northeast India and South India were also present for the ordination. It was a great and joyful occasion for both his family and the parish community as the ordination took place after a gap of 14 years. The ordination ceremony was well organized under the leadership of the parish priest Fr Goerge Vallankonnel. 

Fr Ajith Philip comes from the state of Kerela, south India to work as a missionary in the northeastern part of India. He has been appointed as the Assistant Parish priest at St Andre Parish, Nyapin, Arunachal Pradesh. We wish him a successful and joyful pastoral ministry.

Rev. Fr. Lohrii Stephen CSC was ordained on the 13th of December, 2016 by his Grace Most Rev. Dominic Lumen, Archbishop of Imphal at Our Lady of Victory Church, Makhel, Manipur. He is the first Holy Cross priest to be ordained from the state of Manipur. The Ordination was witnessed by a large number of faithful from around Makhel village and was graced by the presence of 39 Priests and 14 religious Nuns. Besides that there were 11 Novices of the Salesians of Don Bosco led by Regent Bro. Mekrio from the same village.

Fr. Stephen's Ordination was very grand and the first of it's kind in the village and the fourth in the Parish. There was a traditional dance escorting the Deacon, himself dressed in traditional attires. The offertory choreography was the talk of the day, wherein the Sunday school children led the offertory procession. We observed the presence of the Holy Cross confreres coming from different centers to be part of the great celebration.  The occasion was a real witness to the people around and everyone was touched by the solemn profession of faith and vows by the deacon. There was a short felicitation program which was followed by a sumptuous meal. Fr Stephen Lohrii has been appointed as the Asst Parish Priest at Holy Cross Parish, Champhai, Mizoram.

Rev. Fr Arbok Lyngdoh CSC was ordained priest at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Shillong on Saturday 14th January 2017 by Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB, DD, along with three others who belong to the Salesians of Don Bosco, Claretian and OFM Cap from the same diocese. There was a grant reception at Holy Cross Students’ Home, Brookdene after the Ordination. Many Holy Cross priests, religious and his parents and relatives along with the faithful from holy cross parishes as well as from his own parish gathered to witness this great event. Fr Arbok Lyngdoh CSC offered his first thanksgiving Eucharist in his village lyngkhoi at St. George Church, under Wahlang Parish, on 15 January 2017 along with many holy cross confreres.

Fr Arbok Lyngdoh Lyngkhoi, CSC belongs to the Khasi tribe from the state of Meghalaya and he is the fifth Holy Cross priest to be ordained from Khasi community. He has been appointed as the Asst. Parish Priest at Immaculate Conception Parish, Moharpara. We wish him a happy and successful Priestly ministry in Tripura.
