SPES UNICA 2023
SPES UNICA, an
initiative of Holy Cross Educational Foundation (HCEF) under the aegis of Holy
Cross Fathers, Northeast India Province, focuses on leadership and formation of
students. It is three days of educative
live-in experience organized in three states namely, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and
Tripura, where students will be engaged in various activities that will hone
their leadership qualities. Starting in
2006 as a biennial event by HCEF, SPES UNICA has grown in numbers and
activities. This year, being the 150th
anniversary of our founder, Blessed Basile Moreau, entering eternal life, SPES
UNICA 2023 revolved around the life and legacy of our founder under the theme
'Explore the Legacy, Embrace the Future.'
300 students
from Holy Cross Schools in Tripura, along with their animators, gathered at
Holy Cross School Agartala from the 21st to the 23rd of
October and learned about the rich legacy, heritage, and charism of Bl. Basile
Moreau and Holy Cross. Various sessions
on leadership, competitions, and other fun filled activities were conducted
during the three days. The presence of
Most Rev. Lumen Monteiro, CSC, Bishop of Agartala, Fr. Simon Fernandis, CSC,
Superior of Northeast Province, Bro.
Prodip Placid Gomes, Second General Assistant, and Fr. Andre Gawrych,
CSC, Third General assistant, encouraged the students to give their best. During the concluding function, the catholic
leaders from Agartala were felicitated for their witnessing role in the Church
and the society.
A similar event in Meghalaya saw 150 students gathering at Good Shepherd School, Jongksha, from 4th to 6th October. SPES UNICA for Mizoram will commenced on December, where the congregation runs five schools, including two by St. Andre Province.
