Deacon
Design John Nongphud, CSC, a member of the Congregation of Holy Cross, was
ordained as a priest on April 7, 2024, at St. John Vianney Parish in Markassa,
Meghalaya. The ordination ceremony was conducted by Most Rev. Wilbert Marwein,
Bishop of Nongstoin Diocese, in a solemn and moving event attended by clergy,
family members, friends, and parishioners. The beautifully decorated parish
provided a fitting backdrop for this significant milestone in Fr. Nongphud’s
spiritual journey. The Rite of Ordination included the laying on of hands and
the consecratory prayer, invoking the Holy Spirit to bestow the grace of the
priesthood upon him, symbolizing the continuity of the Church’s mission. The
following day, Fr. Nongphud celebrated his first mass at his village church, a
joyous occasion that drew a large gathering of the local community. This event
marked the beginning of his pastoral ministry, highlighting the support and
collective faith of his family and community. Fr. Nongphud’s ordination and
first mass were significant not only for him but also for those who have
supported his vocational journey. As he begins his ministry, he carries with
him the hopes, prayers, and blessings of his loved ones and parishioners. His
dedication and service are expected to be a source of inspiration and spiritual
growth for the Church and its members, and his ministry is hoped to be filled
with divine grace, wisdom, and compassion as he serves the people of God.
