Deacon Ishongkun Kurbah, CSC was ordained as a priest on the 20^th of May 2023 at the Mary Help of Christian Cathedral, Shillong by His Lordship, Most Rev. Victor Lyngdoh, Archbishop of Shillong Archdiocese.  It was a moment of great joy for the family of Dn. Ishongkun and for the Congregation of Holy Cross, Northeast Province.  About eighteen priests from the Northeast province attended the ordination ceremony along with number of priests, religious and faithful from the archdiocese.  In his homily, the archbishop exhorted the newly ordained to remain faithful to the call he has received and work for the Kingdom.  On the following day, the newly ordained priest offered his first mass at his home parish, Christ the Light Parish, Marbisu.  A felicitation programme was organised soon after the first mass to congratulate the newly ordained priest. 

Fr. Ishongkun Kurbah was born on 3^rd September 1992 at Mawngaprim in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya to late Mr. Protassius Warjri and Mrs. Paleimon Kurbah.  He joined Holy Cross as a candidate at Sumer in 2013 and did his Philosophical studies at Christ King College, Shillong. After a year of community experience at Holy Cross School, Panisagar, Tripura, he entered the Novitiate formation and made his first profession on the 28^th of May 2018 at Yercaud, Tamilnadu.  For his regency year, he was appointed at Holy Cros Parish, Champai, Mizoram.  He completed his Theological studies at Jnana Deepa Institute of Philosophy and Theology, Pune.  In the year 2022, Ishongkun made his perpetual commitment and was ordained as a deacon.

He did his diaconate ministry at St. John’s Parish, Khawzawl, Mizoram and he has been appointed as the Asst. Parish Priest at the same parish.
